my capoeira school is presenting this performance. hope you all can make it...
Athletic, inspiring, energetic and rich with cultural expression, Mestranda Márcia Cigarra’s SPIRIT OF BRAZIL ‘09 will explore and celebrate the Brazilian marital art of capoeira and other traditional Brazilian dance and musical expressions through a series of master classes, symposiums and performances! This year’s festival will present some of the world’s best Afro-Brazilian artists, including Mestrando Peixe Crú, one of the highest-ranking leaders of ABADÁ worldwide and student of the legendary Mestre Camisa.
Joining ABADA-Capoeira SF's explosive and energetic Performance Troupe will also be special guest artists from ABADÁ- Brazil, Europe and North America. Plus, local Brazilian dance and musical artists— each internationally celebrated as masters of Brazilian folk art traditions.
In an effort to preserve and rescue the contributions of one of the founding fathers of capoeira,"Mestre Bimba," this year's festival explores and accentuates the capoeira movements and rhythms he created. Don't miss the talent, vitality, and spirit this festival will bring to the Bay Area!
